ATTENDANCE POLICY AND PROTOCOL   

 

The St. Mary Parish attendance policy states that students may miss no more than 10 days a year before losing credit.  Attendance does not start over in the Spring. Only 5 days may be missed in a ½ credit class.    

 

Students who participate in afterschool activities must check in before fourth period and remain in attendance for the remainder of the day. Saturday events are determined by Friday attendance.    

 

Students who are not in GOOD STANDING for attendance and debts will not be able to attend major evening school functions or dances.  Good Standing = no debts and acceptable attendance   

 

MAKE-UPS: It is the student’s responsibility to make up all tests/work missed.     

Students must make up work missed within one week.  After that time, a grade of 0 will be noted.    

   

FSHS GENERAL RULES AND GUIDELINES  

   

PARENT COMMAND CENTER: The parent command center on the FHS homepage allows parents and students to gain access to student information.     

   

CHECKING IN/OUT: A parent, guardian, or authorized person must check in or out a student before the student can be entered or released. Checkouts are counted as an absence.    

After 7:30AM students will be marked late to school which will result in a tardy to school. After 3 tardies to school, you will be issues SAC. Students who arrive after 7:40AM must be signed in in the main office by a parent/guardian. Phone calls will not be accepted. Students will be marked absent from school until he/she is signed in by a parent/guardian.      

   

CLOSED CAMPUS: No student will be allowed to leave the school grounds from the time of arrival on campus in the morning until dismissal.     

   

RULES FOR EARLY MORNING ARRIVALS AT SCHOOL:    Students should not be dropped off before 7:00 a.m.  Upon arrival, all students are to report to the mall area. Breakfast will be served in the mall area. Students who are dropped off by parents should utilize the student parking lot.      

 

RULES FOR DISMISSAL:    

All students will report under the canopy after school to wait for transportation.   

Students who are driving should not hang around; seniors who leave early should leave immediately after early dismissal.   

Early release seniors will be released after fourth or fifth period is over depending on the student’s schedule. I.D. cards may be marked for early release, students will have to provide their own transportation, and will leave the campus IMMEDIATELY after completing their last class. Students will be given five (5) days to get the above stipulations in place. After this time, students found in violation of any of the early release rules will have their schedules filled with classes until 2:30 P.M. for the duration of the school year.   

   

BUS REGULATIONS: Riding the bus is a privilege. Only regularly scheduled bus students are allowed to ride the school buses. Usage of electronic telecommunication device is not permitted on any school bus.    

   

I.D. CARDS: All 9-12th grade students must wear a school I.D in a visible manner above the waist daily. Student identification and replacement cards will be issued for a fee of $5.00. If a student forgets his ID for the day, a temporary ID cards may be purchased before 7:25 for $1.00, he/she will be placed on the debt list if funds are not received.   

   

LOCKERS: All students must use his/her own hall locker.     

  • All P.E. students must use a P.E. locker if enrolled in the course.    
  • ATHLETIC and/or P. E. lockers are to be used for athletics and/or P. E. only. Students will not be allowed into the locker room during other classes or during breaks for any reason.    
  • Each student should keep the lockers locked and combinations confidential.    
  • Sharing hall or P.E. lockers is not allowed.   
  • The school is not responsible for loss or theft of articles from lockers.  
  • Bookbags will remain in the locker during the day, they will not be allowed in any class.   

 

TEACHER/PARENT CONFERENCES: Please call the school office at 337-828-0143 to schedule a conference or email the teacher directly. This courtesy should be extended to faculty in both the teaching and coaching role.   

   

STUDENT PARKING PROCEDURES: Parking Permits must be visible.    

  • You must be of legal age to drive and possess a valid driver’s license. Driving on campus is a privilege.     
  • Vehicles will only be visited with permission and an escort from the office.  
  • Students driving onto the campus are to observe the speed limit.  
  • Drivers should always stay out of the bus lanes.    

 

FSHS LIBRARY: The FHS library is a materials/media center.  Books and periodicals can be checked out for up to 2 weeks and are renewable.  Fines will be charged for overdue books. The library is open from 7:00-2:30.   

   

FSHS CAFETERIA: Students are always expected to conduct themselves as ladies and gentlemen. No fast foods/soft drinks allowed.
